The Rosmalen Libéma Open is back on the schedule from June 10th to 18th. During the previous edition of this tournament, Tim van Rijthoven surprised everyone by winning the tournament, and this year the organizers have once again pulled out all the stops to ensure a strong lineup. This was certainly achieved in both the men's and women's tournaments. Van Rijthoven will defend his title against big names like Daniil Medvedev and Felix Auger-Aliassime, and the women's singles list includes Ekatarina Alexandrova (2022 winner) and multiple Australian Open champion Viktoria Azarenka.
Medvedev out for revenge
Medvedev lost the final to Van Rijthoven in the 2022 edition and will therefore certainly want to get his revenge on the grass of Rosmalen. However, that won't be easy for the Russian, who already won several ATP titles in 2023. With Auger-Aliassime, Borna Coric, and Alex de Minaur, more names from the world's top twenty are on the lineup, and our compatriots Botic van de Zandschulp and Tallon Griekspoor are also represented, hopefully treating the Dutch crowd to some exciting matches.
Besides Van Rijthoven, several other former winners of the tournament will be present at the Libéma Open in Rosmalen. Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, for example, took the overall victory in 2019, while Roberto Bautista-Agut held that honor in 2014. Add to that the presence of top players like Marin Cilic, Pablo Carreno Busta, Milos Raonic, and Miomir Kecmanovic, and we can guarantee you it will be exciting again this year to see who will take home the title of the 2023 Rosmalen Libéma Open. The Libéma Open schedule will be announced later.
Impressive list of participants for the Libéma Open women's tournament
The women's tournament at the Rosmalen Libéma Open also features several names on the entry list who could be in contention for the title. Alexandrova, for example, proved she could handle the pressure of the Rosmalen final in 2022 by defeating Aryna Sabalenka, and good old Azarenka certainly hasn't forgotten her tennis skills. In addition, 2020 Olympic champion Belinda Bencic (WTA-11) will be participating, and Veronika Kudermetova (WTA-12) and Liudmila Samsonova (WTA-16) are other players from the world's top twenty competing at the Rosmalen Libéma Open.
Former world number two Paula Badosa and former Libéma Open winner Alison Riske-Amitraj are also participating this year, and Karolina Muchova, a player who twice reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, is competing at the Rosmalen Libéma Open. Other players who could be considered outsiders for the title are Chinese talent Qinwen Zheng, Petra Martic, and—not to forget—Belgian Elise Mertens. Bianca Andreescu, a former US Open winner, will also be on the lineup, and a wildcard has been awarded to Elina Svitolina, who has returned to the WTA tour after having a child with her boyfriend Gaël Monfils.
Libéma Open prize money
Like almost every tournament, the prize money at the Libéma Open steadily increases each year, and this year, the combined prize money for the ATP and WTA tournaments is a whopping €965,000. It should be noted that the prize money for the men's tournament is slightly higher than for the women's. For comparison, during the 2022 Rosmalen Libéma Open, around €240,000 was awarded for the WTA tournament, while the men's tournament received around €650,000.
