Next week it's that time again: many top tennis players from all over the world will travel to Rotterdam to compete for the title of the ABN AMRO Open tennis 2025. Last year, world number one Jannik Sinner took home the title, defeating Alex de Minaur in the final . The Italian will be forced to miss the tournament this year, but the list still features many big names. For example, no fewer than four players from the world's top ten are competing in Rotterdam. In this preview, you'll read all about the players on the lineup and learn more about the ABN AMRO Tennis schedule for 2025.
Many pirates are competing for the title
Sinner was initially scheduled to defend his title at ABN AMRO Tennis. However, the newly crowned Australian Open champion indicated that his body hadn't yet fully recovered from the long series of matches he played in Melbourne. While this is undoubtedly a blow for the tournament organizers, it also offers opportunities for the rest of the field. With a lineup of world-class players, there are plenty of favorites to claim the title in Ahoy. Consider, for example, the top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz or former winners like Daniil Medvedev (2023), Felix Auger-Aliassime (2022) and Andrey Rublev (2021). Or will De Minaur , runner-up in Rotterdam last year, finally manage to take the overall victory this year?
Just like every year, tournament director Richard Krajicek has once again secured a strong field of participants. Besides the world-class players mentioned above, many more big names will be competing in Rotterdam next week. From Holger Rune to Hubert Hurkacz, and from former semi-finalist Jiri Lehecka to former winner Stan Wawrinka : the crowd in Ahoy will be in for a treat all week. Moreover, the tournament organizers also added crowd favorite and former finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas managed to secure a spot, bringing another outsider for the title to Rotterdam. And we haven't even mentioned the Dutch players who will try to pull off a stunt during the ABN AMRO tennis match in a packed Ahoy stadium.
The Dutch who take action
Because, of course, Tallon Griekspoor and Botic van de Zandschulp, the standard-bearers of Dutch tennis, will also be present. Griekspoor reached the semifinals of the ABN AMRO Tennis tournament last year thanks to victories over Lorenzo Musetti and Hurkacz , among others, while Van de Zandschulp, along with Robin Haase, reached the final of the doubles tournament. Another notable Dutchman on the lineup is the seventeen-year-old talent Mees Röttgering . Our talented compatriot made the step up to the big men's tennis this year and received a wildcard from Krajicek to show the world what he's capable of . Four more Dutchmen will be in action in the qualifying rounds: Jesper de Jong , Thijs Boogaard , Gijs Brouwer , and Jelle Sels.
The doubles tournament also has room for several Dutch players, which makes sense, as three of the four finalists (Van de Zandschulp, Haase, and Wesley Koolhof ) held Dutch nationality during the previous edition of ABN AMRO Tennis. Although Koolhof has since retired from professional tennis, there are still plenty of Dutch players on the lineup for the doubles tournament. Van de Zandschulp and Haase are back, although they won't be playing together this year. Van de Zandschulp will be competing with Griekspoor, while Haase will be playing with Sem Verbeek . Jean-Juliën Rojer will also be there, of course.
ABN AMRO tennis program 2025
In addition to the players mentioned above, there are many more quality players on the ABN AMRO tennis 2025 line-up. Also Arthur Fils , Alexei Popyrin , Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard , Flavio Cobolli , Alexander Bublik , Lorenzo Sonego , Matteo Berrettini , Jan-Lennard Struff , Pedro Martinez , Zhizhen Zhang , Jakub Mensik , Roberto Bautusta-Agut , and David Goffin will travel to Rotterdam to compete for the title. It's good to know that every match played on Centre Court at Ahoy will be broadcast on Ziggo Sport Tennis. The final weekend will also be broadcast on NOS. The ABN AMRO tennis tournament takes place from February 1st to 9th. The first two days are dedicated to the qualifying tournament, while the main tournament begins on February 3rd.
