1. Jannik Sinner 

It will come as no surprise to anyone that Jannik Sinner The current world number one is Sinner. The Italian won no fewer than eight titles this year, recording 73 victories in 79 matches. The 23-year-old Sinner will earn nearly seventeen million dollars in tennis in 2024, partly thanks to the two Grand Slams he won this year – the Australian Open and the US Open. He also topped the ATP Finals in Turin, won tournaments in Miami and Shanghai, and lifted the trophy at the Halle tennis tournament . To top it all off, Sinner won the Davis Cup with Italy, defeating the Netherlands in the final.  

2. Alexander Zverev

Currently ranked second in the ATP Ranking, Zverev is Sinner 's biggest challenger . The German won two titles in 2024: he was the best on the clay courts of Rome and on the hard courts of Paris. With nearly nine million dollars, the 27-year-old Zverev had little to complain about in terms of prize money, and he played his final match of the year at the ATP Finals , where he lost in the semifinals to American Taylor Fritz. 

 

3. Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz is still only 21 years old, and this year he has once again won several major titles. The Spaniard achieved some particularly impressive results in the summer: he won the Grand Slams Roland Garros and Wimbledon in succession, and shortly after, he took silver at the Paris Olympics, where he lost in the final to Novak. Djokovic . Alcaraz also won the Indian Wells and Beijing tournaments, and his total earnings this year are around ten million dollars. The Spaniard played 67 matches in 2024, losing only thirteen. 

 

4. Taylor Fritz

Fritz won nearly seven million dollars in prize money and reached the final of the ATP Finals , where he lost to Sinner . Fritz also achieved good results at the Grand Slams this year. At Wimbledon and the Australian Open, he reached the quarterfinals, and at the US Open, he even reached the final. Once again, he was defeated by Sinner . 

 

5. Daniel Medvedev 

Where Fritz rose rapidly in the ATP Ranking, it was for Daniil Medvedev had a somewhat disappointing year. Medvedev , a former world number one, amassed €5.5 million in prize money and, for the first time since 2017, failed to win a singles title. At the start of the year, he seemed poised to win the Australian Open, but saw a 2-0 set lead vanish into thin air against—who else? —Sinner . At Wimbledon, he reached the semifinals and lost the final at Indian Wells to Alcaraz . 

  

6. Casper Ruud 

Norwegian Casper Ruud also didn't have the best year of his career, but he did win two titles. Naturally, on clay: he was the best in Barcelona and Geneva. He also reached the semifinals at Roland Garros , but otherwise, this wasn't Ruud's year. To illustrate: in the last thirteen ATP tournaments the Norwegian played, he was eliminated in the first round seven times. At the ATP Finals, he was defeated in the semifinals by Sinner . 

 

7. Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic had a volatile year, alternating highs with deep valleys. While the now 37-year-old Serbian won seven titles in 2023, he won "only" one in 2024. Yet, this title was a remarkable one: Djokovic won his first Olympic gold medal in Paris. Yet, it's only the third time in seventeen years that Djokovic hasn't finished the calendar year in the world's top five. 

 

8. Andrey Rublev 

Andrey Rublev was once ranked fifth in the ATP world rankings. Now, the 27-year-old Russian has to settle for eighth. Rublev won two tournaments this year, taking home the honors in Hong Kong and Madrid. Rublev also reached the final in Montreal, defeating Sinner, among others . He then headed into the final as the heavy favorite, where he was ultimately defeated by Alexei Rublev did n't perform particularly well at the Grand Slams this year. His best result came at the Australian Open, where he reached the quarterfinals. 

 

9. Alex de Minaur 

For Alex de Minaur, this is the first time in his career that he's finished the calendar year in the top ten. This is partly due to the two titles he won this year. The 25-year-old Australian defended his title on the hard courts of Acapulco and also achieved a tournament victory on Dutch soil. In the final of the Rosmalen tournament, De Minaur defeated Sebastian Korda 6-2, 6-4. He also reached the final in Rotterdam, but none other than Sinner proved too strong. 

 

10. Grigor Dimitrov 

Grigor Dimitrov is back in full force. The Bulgarian was already ranked number three in the world in 2017, then dropped out of the top twenty , but has started his ascent again. He ends the year as number ten in the world, a stylist who owes this in part to his title in Brisbane at the beginning of the year. What else does the 33-year-old Dimitrov , who has had to miss several matches due to injuries, have in store for him? We'll see in 2025!
